In Thailand, a drug-filled truck was sold at auction by police
Thailand's anti-drug authorities have apologized for mistakenly selling drug-filled trucks at auction. There were reports that millions of amphetamine tablets were hidden in the truck.
One buyer bought a Honda CR-V truck with 5 lakh 3 thousand barricades or about 5 thousand 5 pounds. The truck was seized last year in a drug case that was sold at auction this month.
But when it was sent to the garage for repair, a mechanic found 3,000 yaba pills in the bumper of a truck.
Authorities say they will investigate the matter better in the future.
"As a rule, we searched all of the vehicles we got, and this truck was no exception. We didn't find anything at that time, because the pills were so well hidden," Niyam Tirmisiuk, secretary general of the country's drug control board, told the Bangkok Post.
Mr Tamrasiuk said the Yaba pills - a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine - were hidden in a few boxes in a secret cabin behind the bumper of the truck.
